I have been in private practice in Vienna, Virginia for more than 30 years. Building on client’s strengths, I coach clients to increase their comfort and skill, to understand how the way they think about a problem may not be serving them well, how past trauma may be getting in their way, and how they can change and create a new way to go.
I am a poet. My collection, No Sins of Omission, is available from Amazon.
Currently I am hard at work on a second poetry collection and a memoir in essay form. My art studio is in my home, in the space where the dining room used to live! During COVID, the dining room chandelier came down and an industrial light took its place. I paint on canvas using acrylics, ink, and charcoal. For ten years I have been making mail art and sending it through the U.S. Postal Service––painting and collaging on cardboard and covers of old and dry rotted books.
I try to practice what I preach by leading Silent Retreats and Poets & Writers & Artists retreats. which are a crucial part of my own mindfulness practice.
You can learn more about my therapy practice by going to my therapy page. I have a special interest in using EMDR and somatic experiencing skills to help clients with trauma to break through barriers in their lives.
I received an M.S. from Virginia Tech in Marriage and Family Therapy and have an undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond in English and Theology. I completed the Group Spiritual Direction training with the Shalem Institute in Washington, D.C.
